there will be crazies

Just counting down the minutes... t-minus 1hr, 2 minutes until I retrieve my items at 50%.
Yes indeed, it is Wednesday. And that means 50% from 3pm - 5pm at the Army. The trick is though... the professionals come out round that time too... so it's slim-pickin's after some time.
Solution? Go early and hide stuff. I've stashed mine in the XXL and size 36 sections. Yes it's a lot of dedication to save $10 in the end, but someone's got to do it!

There will be crazies.
For example, the crazy woman today who always tells me about Bay-St Laurent tried to hide my things in a television stand. As if that's less obvious... clothes sticking out of the furniture. I put my foot down on this one. I'm sticking to my old stubborn ways. Also too, I was the one who told her about 50% day AND how to hide things ahead to of time- to which she was pleasantly surprised ....

and then she told me she was a regular and that she knew where best to hide things (ie. the furniture). Interesting for someone who didn't know about the sale...       trust no one.

Then there was the lady who was sifting through my own belongings when I exited the change room... she had my raincoat in hand. Punched her out...  not really though.. just nicely asked for it back. She was reluctant.

So the point is: be aggressive and stealthy.
Hm... I hope Bay St-Laurent didn't steal my dresses... she saw my game plan. Darn it.
Anyway, a few pictures from some recent thrifting.

I love this skirt! The faux buttons are SVEET. It's my Amelia Earheart skirt. She never wore anything like it... but if it had existed, she would have.
plus my sixty-year old fisherman friend Chief said it looked really sharp. So there.

No tag. Haw! Maybe it WAS Amelia's!

Skirts- can't go wrong. You'll notice how plain-jane the white one is. Nothing out of the ordinary, but give that baby a try on and you'll be catching eyes all round town. Hence- always try it on.

the lazy day way

Today is a lazy Saturday.
So I feel it is fitting to tell you about the lazy way to thrift shop. This one's new to me.

While procrastinating homework recently, I was searching on Kejiji for irrelevant items and wondered about people selling clothes. I found this dress advertised for five bucks from a girl living in Dartmouth.

Long story short, she delivered it right to my mailbox and I left $5 in it. Not sure if one is to tip for services like that.. hmm.. .... nah.

follow the yellow brick skirt.

Value Village finds today.
Skirt - Braemar Petites by Jeremy Scott
Size 6
Gold Nugget Gold.

The zooey deschanel pant.
No tag sadly. Don't eat a big meal in these pants. Or unzip ahead of time. Lesson learned.

for the gentlemen...

Oh my... how handsome.
Be still my beating heart.
.....One of the greatest finds of my life...
Indeed, the shoes are out of this world.

Matt's not too bad himself, either.

I found these shoes last summer at an underwhelming used clothing store on Grand Manan Island, NB. The store was going the way of the cod... (too soon?) and so they were doing "fill a bag for $5" sell-off before closing.

Well when I saw these mens shoes, I considered a sex-change and after I got over that (too pricey) I realized I could give them to a well-deserving man. ...... hmm.... hard to think of anyone. Or just a man.

It was between my good friend and roomate Matt (my model, and is currently available) and what is now an ex-boyfriend. I thank my lucky stars I decided to go with Matt. Now I get to bask in my glory every time he wears them in our apartment. They were only $2. ..... And the ladies be swoonin'

In other news, back in Waterdown for a few days to see the family. Mom and I went to the local Value Village. I find their prices too high. (generally 5.99 - 9.99 range), but it's a huge place with great selection. Found 2 skirts yellow and red, and a pair of high-waisted pants. I'll post some pictures soon. Also, they've changed their tags so you can no longer peel off the expensive label and place a cheaper one on it.... good... those thieves...  who would do that anyway???..... ........   ...   darn.

Off to NYC tomorrow morning with the mother. Maybe look for a Salvation Army in the city? I realize that's insulting to any half-fashionable person... but I care not.

Tweedle-dee

Red/Black Tweed Skirt
Sally Ann Green Street
3.99
size 12
Brand: Hypen

This skirt is funky. It makes me want to stand in contemplation in grand central station. I need an obnoxiously large hat also.
It looked pretty lack-lustre on the rack but changed completely once on. - heavy fabric, so great for winter. The fitted high waist gives new meaning to 'hippy.'
